Ricoh Aficio GX3000 - Review

August 13, 2007 – 9:58 am | by chong

Early this month, Ricoh launched a colour printer which it claims to give clear waterproof and sunlight resistant prints with an amazing gamut of colours.

Our representative attended the launching held at the new G Hotel at Penang.

Instead of using the regular ink, the GX3000 uses a gel-based technology which dries quickly and is water-resistent.  Claimed to be able to print at resolutions of up to 3600 X 1200 dpi, there is an LCD screen at the front which provides information on the printing job.  The gel cartridges are located at the front of the printer and is easy to replace.  Setting up the Ricoh GX3000 is relatively quick and easy via USB port.

With all the excitement of the launch, the Ricoh GX3000 isn’t a speedy machine as it takes more than 40 seconds to warm up and for the first printout.

With all the excitement of the launch, we find that the printouts are not as sharp as should be.  Priced at RM888-00, it’s definitely an expensive alternative to a regular inkjet printer and a far-cry from HP OfficeJet 5610.
